BlowHard Cordless Fire Department Fans & Battery-Powered High-Performance Fans

What is BlowHard?

BlowHard is a brand of powerful, battery-powered high-performance fans designed for fire departments, emergency medical services, industry, and other professional users. The devices are primarily used for tactical ventilation, smoke extraction, and positive pressure ventilation. They generate a strong, controlled airflow capable of displacing smoke, heat, and hazardous gases from buildings or operational areas.

Unlike conventional gasoline-powered fans, BlowHard fans are electric and battery-powered. This means there are no exhaust fumes at the scene; the devices are ready for use quickly and can be flexibly deployed even in locations where power supply or combustion engines would be problematic. This technology can make a significant contribution to safety, particularly during firefighting operations, interior attacks, basement fires, underground parking garages, stairwells, or poorly ventilated rooms.

BlowHard was developed specifically for harsh operating conditions. The fans are robustly built, easy to operate, compact for transport, and designed for rapid effectiveness. They combine high airflow with sophisticated airflow management, enabling emergency responders to perform targeted, tactical ventilation.

BlowHard FireFighting Fans staged for a fire department procurement presentation, several fan models arranged on a platform with specification cards, firefighters examining the equipment, modern training room background, professional sales demonstration scene, clean and credible product showcase.

What are BlowHard fans used for?

BlowHard fans are used to remove smoke, heat, fumes, and contaminated air from buildings, rooms, or incident sites. The goal is to improve visibility, lower temperatures, and make working conditions safer for emergency responders.

In fires, smoke can often be more dangerous than the flames themselves. It obscures visibility, contains toxic components, and hinders rescue, firefighting, and navigation. A powerful positive pressure fan can create a controlled airflow that pushes smoke out of the building and draws in fresh air. BlowHard fans assist with, among other things:

  • Smoke extraction after fires
  • Positive pressure ventilation of buildings
  • Ventilation of stairwells
  • Smoke extraction from basements, garages, and industrial facilities
  • Cooling of operational areas
  • Improved visibility during interior attacks
  • Reduction of heat buildup
  • Support in cases of hazardous substance or vapor exposure
  • Ventilation of shafts, tunnels, or hard-to-reach areas
  • Tactical scene ventilation

The benefit lies not only in the high airflow capacity but, above all, in the rapid deployment capability. BlowHard fans can be carried, set up, aligned, and started by a single person. This saves emergency responders time and manpower.

How do BlowHard fans work?

BlowHard fans generate a powerful airflow using a high-performance electric motor and an optimized fan unit. This airflow is directed specifically toward an opening, an entrance, a stairwell, or an affected area. The airflow creates positive pressure that forces smoke and warm air out through designated exhaust vents.

Airflow management is a key feature. The units are designed not only for high airflow volume but also to deliver the airflow precisely and effectively to the target area. To achieve this, BlowHard uses a special high-flow jet system that concentrates and precisely guides the airflow.

Many models can be tilted continuously. This allows the airflow to be adapted to different operational situations, such as low entrances, stairwells, windows, basement entrances, or complex building structures. This makes the fans highly flexible in tactical use. The typical procedure is simple:

  1. Position the fan where needed
  2. Set up and align the unit
  3. Adjust the airflow angle
  4. Start the fan
  5. Check the exhaust vent
  6. Monitor the ventilation effect and readjust if necessary

What models are available?

  • BlowHard Squirt 17″ – The BlowHard Squirt is an exceptionally compact and lightweight battery-powered positive pressure ventilator. It was designed for operations where space is limited and rapid mobility is critical. Despite its small size, it offers powerful ventilation performance and is ideal for initial attacks, small buildings, apartments, basement entrances, stairwells, and mobile operations. The Squirt is particularly appealing to fire departments looking for a highly portable device that can be quickly carried and deployed by a single person. Thanks to its compact design, it can be stowed in a vehicle without taking up much space and is ready for use very quickly.

  • BlowHard Quickee 20″ – The BlowHard Quickee is a powerful, compact battery-powered fan with a large power reserve. It combines high airflow with simple operation and is suitable for many standard fire department ventilation tasks. The Quickee is designed for operations where a good balance of power, weight, mobility, and pack size is required. It is suitable for residential buildings, commercial properties, small industrial facilities, stairwells, and classic positive pressure ventilation following fire operations. Thanks to its compact design, it can be operated by a single person.

  • BlowHard Xtendo 20″ – The Quickee Xtendo is a more powerful evolution within the Quickee series. It was designed for larger or more demanding ventilation tasks, yet remains compact and flexible. Its strength lies in the combination of high performance and good portability. This model is particularly suitable for larger buildings, tall stairwells, commercial properties, industrial halls, or operations where greater airflow is required without having to switch to a larger unit.

  • BlowHard Commando 24″ – The BlowHard Commando is the high-performance model for large and demanding applications. It offers very high airflow and was developed as a powerful alternative to gasoline-powered fans. Despite its high performance, it remains designed for mobility and ease of use. The Commando is suitable for larger buildings, industrial facilities, underground parking garages, long hallways, warehouses, complex job sites, and situations where particularly high airflow is required. Optional accessories such as a wheel set can facilitate transport over longer distances.

  • BlowHard Hottee 20″ – The BlowHard Hottee is a battery-powered fan with swappable battery technology. It is ideal for users who work with existing battery platforms or require a flexible power supply in the field. The use of interchangeable batteries makes the device particularly versatile. The Hottee is suitable for fire departments, plant fire brigades, industrial users, and organizations that value a flexible power supply, ease of use, and reliable ventilation performance.

Advantages of BlowHard

  • Battery-powered operation with no exhaust fumes
Since BlowHard fans are electrically powered, there are no exhaust fumes from gasoline engines. This is particularly important during operations indoors, in entryways, stairwells, or poorly ventilated areas. Emergency responders are not exposed to additional stress from engine exhaust.
  • Quick deployment
BlowHard fans do not need to be fueled, started, or laboriously prepared beforehand. Simply set them up, position them, and start them. This saves time and reduces effort at the scene.
  • One-Person Operation
Many models are designed so that they can be carried, positioned, and operated by a single person. This is particularly valuable when personnel are scarce or multiple tasks must be performed simultaneously.
  • Compact Design
BlowHard fans take up little space in the emergency vehicle. This is a significant advantage, especially for fire departments with limited storage space. The units can often be carried to locations where larger fans cannot fit.
  • Robust Construction
The fans are built for harsh operating conditions. Water, dust, dirt, impacts, and heat are part of everyday life during firefighting operations. BlowHard units are designed to function reliably even under such conditions.
  • Precise airflow control
The infinitely variable tilt and special airflow management allow for precise alignment. This enables the airflow to be better adapted to doors, windows, stairwells, or other operational situations.
  • Low operating costs
Battery-powered fans require less maintenance than gasoline-powered units. There is no fuel, no exhaust fumes, less mechanical wear, and easier cleaning. This can reduce operating costs over the unit’s service life.

Typical Applications

  • Firefighting and Fire Suppression
The primary application is firefighting. BlowHard fans assist with tactical ventilation, smoke extraction, and positive pressure ventilation. They help improve visibility and safety inside buildings and make the work of respiratory protection teams easier.
  • Emergency Medical Services and Disaster Response
Emergency medical services and disaster response organizations can also use BlowHard fans, for example to ventilate incident sites, tents, temporary shelters, contaminated areas, or overheated work zones.
  • Industry and plant fire departments
In industrial facilities, production halls, warehouses, or workshops, BlowHard fans can be used for rapid ventilation. They help with smoke, fumes, heat, or poor air circulation.
  • Tunnels, underground parking garages, and basements
Enclosed or semi-enclosed areas are particularly challenging. Basements, shafts, underground parking garages, and tunnels can become heavily smoke-filled or poorly ventilated. With the right fans and accessories, airflow can be directed specifically into these areas.
  • Construction sites and technical rescue
On construction sites, BlowHard fans can help with ventilation, cooling, or air circulation. They can also be useful during technical rescue operations, work in confined spaces, or after water damage.
  • Medical and temporary infrastructure
In temporary treatment areas, tents, or mobile facilities, controlled ventilation can be important. BlowHard fans can help create air movement and make work areas more comfortable.
